What to Expect

Join us on the trip of lifetime, working with the Paper Fig Foundation team on meaningful projects and also experiencing the awe-inspiring natural and cultural beauty of East Africa. Have you been waiting for the right moment to travel to Africa? This is it.

❋ Meaningful Work

You will join the PFF leadership team from the US and East Africa to witness and address the challenges and successes of our work running a health center, skills training program, and entrepreneurship program in East Africa.

❋ Collaborative Energy

Our group will be intimate, and even though each person will have the space to process their journey in their own way, we will also have lots of opportunities to share and grow together. 

❋ Cultural Exchange

Because of our longstanding relationships in the area, we are able to facilitate genuine conversations, learning, and growth together. Through museum visits, home and business visits, and music and dance, you will come to understand the culture of the place in an authentic and respectful way. 

❋ A Supportive Space

The accommodations are all stunning, with space for reflection and recharging. With a yoga and meditation guide on the journey as well, each day includes an optional space for restorative processing through movement and meditation. 

Reconnect with yourself and build new connections with the world as you step away from your reality.

Watching the young women of the Paper Fig Foundation celebrate their newfound skills by strutting their gorgeous designs on the runway is not only an absolute blast - it also embodies what our work is all about. Women learning skills to support themselves and one another.

Highlights: Entusi

This hidden gem on the deepest lake in Uganda is unique in all the world. Enjoy the quietest night of your life, and float in the lake as if you’re floating in an ancient womb. Yoga on the gorgeous deck, volleyball in the yard, canoe tours of the lake, and delicious local food are all included in this sweet respite from the road.

Highlights: The Health Center

Get to know the Paper Fig health center team, the community that surrounds the health center, and the issues that face them. Help us brainstorm solutions to complex problems, and listen to community stories through music and dance.

Highlights: Queen Elizabeth National Park

Every day we stay at Mweya, you will wake up in the heart of in the heart of Queen Elizabeth National Park. You may awaken to the sound of an elephant calling or to hippos snorting. Our drive to Kasese is through the savannah, so you will see ample wildlife throughout our time.

In addition, both a Jeep safari and a boat safari are included in the trip, so get ready for herds of water buffalo, elephants, Uganda kobs, warthogs, lions, baboons, and so much more!

  • Once our intimate group is finalized and the dates are set, you can book your flight, apply for your visa, and set up doctors’ visits.. We will be available to help you with any questions throughout the process.
